In stressful times I have really got down about myself and my ability, felt knackered, reached for caffeine, eaten too much sugar and then told myself that ‘I can’t do this, I can’t do that and I’m too fat to wear that’.

Luckily I know lots of tricks and tips that have pulled me out of the negative hole I’d dug myself into and I’m going to share my top 3 with you:

  • Meditate. It is amazing how calm you feel no matter what is happening around you if you meditate. It doesn’t have to be for a long time too. I noticed a difference in just three minutes a day! There are some great apps out there to use as guided meditation, or simply look at the flame of a candle, or get out for a walk and focus on what you see canstockphoto3635442
  • Exercise. Even if it’s a ten minute walk outside walk each day, you will notice a difference from those happy hormones. Exercise helps me blast away any stress and negativity I’m feeling and it gives me a great energy boost that lasts longer than any caffeine hit
  • Sleep. I am so bad at sleeping and always have been, but when I’ve come close to tears over the slightest thing going wrong, I know I need to have an early night. Try to catch up on sleep for one week and see how you feel. If you have tons of things to do, get help and make a habit of going to bed at the same time every night and then waking up at the same time each day to set your body clock. If you really don’t like going to bed early, then try having a relaxing bath each night, a massage, or read a good book one hour before bed to make your sleep more restful
  • Cut out the crap! The only way to show your body some love in terms of food is to cut out the crap and go cold turkey on the things that you crave. Cut out sugar, sweets, shop bought cakes and biscuits, margarine, cheap meat, crisps, cereal bars and everything else that’s processed to high heaven with lots of horrible nasties added. Eat good quality meats, vegetables, fruit, natural/Greek yoghurt, cheese and if you want a cheat then 85% dark chocolate. Drink lots more water too and you’ll be amazed how great you feel. Your body will thank you for it.
